It's fantastic but the ink and paper are very expensive and you're more or less stuck using Epson-brand paper and inks. I don't know what kind of work you do, but there are a lot of much-cheaper printers that make pretty decent prints, My Canon Pixma prints look better than anything I get from Walgreens, but if it's important to you to have the best archival-quality prints possible, those high-end Epsons are the way to go.

I agree with the comments above about the ink, but I do not agree that you are stuck with Epson Paper. All of my favorite papers that I are not made by Epson except for Velvet Fine Art. The other non-Epson paper I use are Inkjet Art Microceramic Luster as a replacement for Epson Premium Luster; it has a larger color gamut than Premium Luster, a finer stipple, and is literally half the cost. I also really like Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl. For black and white printing, I really like Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl, prints done in B&W using Photo Black ink on this paper and my ImagePrint RIP look stunning. For a matte paper, my favorite is Epson's Velvet Fine Art, which is the same paper at Somerset Velvet, but with Epsons optical brighteners added. A beautiful paper. Profiles for all these papers are available for free for color management. Stephen J Scharf Photography
