Bought a printer for three month ago, and every picture (10 picture) in A4 contained traces from the wheels. It was like eight traces of an ant. My girlfriends Epson had the same effect. That was with the paper: glossy photo paper and with quality 2. Today I tested this: Photo paper plus glossy and quality 1. No traces at all. Is this becouse of the paper or just the quality and someone else who has seen it?

Might be able to give advise if you can provide the printer's brand and model, and which paper brand/type used. When I got my Epson 2200 I went through a similar situation until I found out that I had to use paper compatible with the printers' ink (pigment). So far, I am using Ilford Smooth Pearl paper, or Epson Premium Luster paper. Both are resin coated (RC) and always get great results with them. There are other brands such as Red River, and Inkjet Art papers that also work.

It´s an IP4500 from Canon. I got an answer från another forum that it could be the thin paper. 250 - 300 g/m2 wasn´t any problem, but below that...

Can anybody help me? I've just setup a iP4500.

I have the same problem with 10 very thin white horizontal lines spaced about 1cm apart) going across the paper.

The few prints from the 1st day I set the printer up did not show this.

I'm using Canon GP 401 to practice on. I would have thought it less likely to be a paper problem because the prints from the 1st day were OK. GP 401 is 190g/m2.

While I use an Epson, I get the same problem when I try to use thin paper. If I stick to 250 gr/m2 or better, then its fine.

OK, I'll try but any explanation why it only happened the 2nd session and not the 1st session?

If you've had it for three months, and not used it much between printing, the heads still might be a bit clogged... Try a cleaning, to see if it helps.

No, bought it 4 days ago...:(

Tried it again today. The problem is even worse. More lines with less distance between them.

It's similar to the pattern described when a nozzle is blocked. However, when I print out a test of the nozzle, it's all fine. FWIW, just ran a print head alignment check again which is OK.

Then printed out another picture on the canon 6x4 paper and I still get the horizontal lines.

I knew this would happen to me. Nothing ever seems to go smoothly with new hardware.:(

I had the same problem when my Canon IP4000 was new. I had replaced an Epson printer but still had the Epson photo paper so I used it and got tracks from the paper drive wheels.

Changed to Canon Photo Paper Pro and all my problems vanished.

This is very strange. It's related to the software.

If I use DPP to print, using CTRL P, then the problem occurs.

If I print through the "Print with detailed setting", then the lines do not appear.

In photoshop CS2, no problem now. I must have clicked on something that solved the problem.

Just some feedback. I think the problem is due to the settings in the software setup. My theory is too much ink comes out onto the paper causing the trackmarks.
