I couldn't figure out what to get my brother in law's new girlfriend for Christmas, so I took a picture of her son and will frame it for her. Anyway, here's the shot! Taken in about five seconds with 30D and 17-55 2.8.

Really cute kid and I love the composition but to be honest I think it's a bit dark and I am curious as to what your ISO was.

Hmm, looks fine on my monitor. I'll check it at the lab before I print it tomorrow. I was shooting at ISO 400. The room was pretty dark, so I used flash to actually light the kid, and just kept the shutter slow enough to get the lights in the background and such (most of which I ended up cropping out anyway).

i think it is dark too.
and i think u might want to fix the white balance a little.

Again, it looks fine to me and my screen is pretty close to the Frontier at my lab, so I'll double check when I get the file there.

I don't correct for the web because everyone's monitor will be different, I correct for my prints, which as far as I can tell will look fine.
