DPP Blurry Jpeg Thumbnails

I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I couldn't find any answers after searching.

Does anyone else have a problem with blurry jpeg thumbnails in DPP and know how to fix this problem? I'm using I believe the latest version 3.0.2.6 but have had this problem in earlier versions as well.

If you select the tools menu > preferences, a dialogue box will open.

In "General Settings" you will find a jpeg image quality box. Although I think it only relates to noise reduction?

I only shoot RAW and the same dialogue offers a choice of displayed RAW image quality. The help file recommends "High Quality".

Thank you Lowner. I've tried that and the jpegs are still blurry.

My DPP developed that problem with an earlier upgrade & my 10D camera files. My 5D files are nice & sharp while my 10D files are still slightly blurry. I never did figure out why the difference.

Sorry my first thoughts did not help.

Further reading in the help files: In the troubleshooting section, it says that JPEG's other than Exif 2.2 and 2.21 compatible images will not display properly.

It also refers to the 10D but only to say that image "information" may not display?

The only other thing I remember reading but cannot find right now, is a reference to a low quality image being the first to be displayed, then replaced by a higher quality one. I know it said that the better quality image might take a while to appear as it depended on what resources the PC has at its disposal.

By the way, I've printed out an edited version of the DPP help files. It's 68 pages worth, but useful.

what size thumbnails are you using?

I use small, (large and medium are also blurry for me.)

Thanks for everyone's help. Sorry "TMR Design." I've changed my preferences now to receive PMs. "DeKalbSteel" - I usually prefer the large thumbnails. After plowing through some older files I've now noticed that some of my newer files seem to display properly while older ones dont. Maybe it has something to do with the EXIF version like Lowner suggested that allows only some versions to display properly.

It's been a wile since I've used DPP but I do recall having this problem. I just did some quick tests. I have DPP 3.0 and Canon 30D and here is what I found out.

RAW (CR2) files display thumbnails correctly. JPG images right from the camera will display a blurry thumbnail at any size and large is just more obvious. The interesting thing is that if I process an image in PS and save the JPG or open a JPG created in another program it then displays fine. Nothing I do within DPP seems to make a difference in terms of displaying the thumbnail of an image that came from the camera.

My version is 3.1.0.5. Perhaps you don't actually have the latest version??
