how do i format a seagate 6gb St1 drive to use on my canon 1d2n
i got 2 for christmas and cant format this either on my camera or computer?
any help is appreicated..

IIRC Seagate makes 'em with 2 different interfaces - one for computers, PDAs and digital cameras and the other for building into MP3 players. Jon

If they're FX, it's called an ATA-Flex interface and devices supporting that would work; if it's CF, then they're designed to work like any CF device. Jon

i have one of those standard USB CF reader (one with harddrive and mulitple reader slots) that connects to my laptop which is running windows XP

Your laptop may not be supplying enough power to run the disk. However, if the camera can't format the card either, it probably won't work for recording the photos. Microdrives (as these are called) aren't all that popular nowadays since flash memory's gotten reasonably low priced. It may be best to 'fess up to the gift giver and say your camera isn't "good enough" to use the cards they gave you, and ask if they can be exchanged for some of the "cheap" flash drives. Jon
