Oscar Peterson: (15 Aug 1925 - 23 Dec 2007)

A man who has inspired me over three decades through both his music and his art.

His profound command of the ivories would leave you breathless and spellbound for hours, months - and if you're anything like me...YEARS!

I stand in awe of the acalades he's received in recognition of his contributions and support to his country, institutions, charities and children...to name a few.

A passionate photographer who will be missed by many pros. Thanks to Michael Reichmann (external link) for portraying Oscars second-passion.

My heartfelt condolences to his families, friends and colleagues.

My thanks to all OP (Oscar Peterson :) ) fans. If it wasn't for you pushing his career skyward during my early years of laborious piano scales, I may never have been introduced to this virtuoso's artistry.

Moe mai ra e Ta. Haere, Haere atu ra.

Sleep in Peace Sir. Farewell...farewell.

Well said! the man was a genius, I have a couple of his records amongst my jazz collection.
I was really surprised one day when I realised that the majority of my collection is composed of records by jazz pianists and includes people like 'Earl 'Father' Hines', 'Fats Wallah', 'Scott Joplin', 'Art Tatum' and 'Erroll Gardner', All giants in their field who could play faster than I could think the chord sequences.
Well done Sam.

Me, too. Time to put them on a CD.
