Careful there Zaney...don't want to blow up the bar now.;)

It's ok. We'll be moving to the next bar again before much longer anyway.

Oh, and I got sent to the principal's office once, and he had, up on the wall behind his desk, an assortment of different paddles that he used throughout his teaching career. For a fourth grader, it was like taking a tour in some dungeon with all the implements of torture on display. Sometimes he would just leave you in that office of his alone with your imagination and those paddles for a quarter hour or so. By the time he would come in, you would be ready to confess to being the Mystery Shooter on the Grassy Knoll.

There hasn't been a car in this auction that sold for less than $100,000 in the past three or four hours. Two went for $1,000,000 and one got $1,600,000. Where the heck are these people getting this kind of money?!?

You seen what professional athletes make lately? You live in L.A. area don't people drive those things as daily drivers?

Dang...none of my teachers were ever this active in class. One threw a chalk board eraser once to a student who was sleeping. The only teacher I remember vivdly was Mr. Chessir...he was asctually a sub who was around everyday. If he happened to sub your class that day, it was a free day. He basically sat the entire time talking about his clubbing the night before and how he tried to pick up women. Once, he told us about how he got shot down by a lesbian...he said he actually got his feelings hurt.

Ok, I guess what I really meant was, where can *I* get some of this money?!?

The cars they've been selling in this auction will most likely only be on display in museums and car shows. Jay Leno is the only one crazy enough to actually drive something like this on the streets. (I saw him driving a Stanley Steamer down Buena Vista in Burbank a couple years ago -- that's something you don't see every day!)

We had a sub that would come in, a really elderly gent, great sense of humor, but come to find out that he was Mr. Universe back in the thirties or something like that. He brought in his portfolio once so we could see it. Here was this old guy, with a Santa beard, showing us the shots of him all Arnold Schwarzenegger'd out. Trippy.

Then there was this one sub that came into our Geology class and started talking about how we needed to save the planet and save this and save that and how the world would be so much better if there were no humans, etc. After a while, I was getting a bit bored of her diatribe, and when she said that she wanted to save the Harp Seals, I raised my hand and told her that I agreed. I, too, wanted to save the Harp Seals with their beautiful pelts. "Heck," I told her, "I need to save at least four more for a complete car seat cover set."

She left the classroom in tears.

It doesn't end there...

The principal came in to the class, as we still have another twenty minutes before the period ended and had to explain that it wasn't nice to torment the subs. "Although," he said, "the Harp Seal thing was pretty funny."

Or maybe private collections never to be seen by the public eye again.

Yup, that too. I forgot to mention, that a lot of the cars being sold would be illegal to actually drive on the street, too. There have been a couple NHRA and NASCAR cars auctioned off. They also use this auction to dump off the Monster Garage experiments, and most of those are not licensable.

Bill bought a couple Hendrix guitars at auction. He said the next highest bidders was Hard Rock Cafe. He has them in a safes but wants to display them in his book store.
