I'm intrigued by your remote triggering of your camera. What equipment are you using to do that? I'd love to do some remote work on my bird feeders.

Ya know that you can use your pocket wizards as remote camera triggers, right? (Requires a separate cable... but they work quite well)

The used REMOTE (external link) is still for sale on eBay, one might pick it up real cheap.

Yes, actually I've read that. I was curious what Jim was using.

What cable do I need, Scott?

What is the cable for, is it a sensor that connects to the shutter release socket?

Thanks Jim.

So you focus the camera yourself then fire it remotely when something hits your target?

I am kinda interested in Pocket Wizards or something similar for off camera flash. I really have not looked into them in any depth though.

They have great range and are really easy to use.

Some folks use the Elinchrom Skyports. They're smaller in size, but seem to work quite well also.

I was going to play with it a bit more today, but it was too cold for my liking out, besides I had to get some work stuff done and work on the plans for a renovation and addition for myself.

Exactly - the cable goes from the PW to the remote shutter socket. Then you handhold another PW and press the test button to trigger... you can even AF with it :-D

Here are some non-PW versions:

This will keep your camera in a constant AF state - so MF might be preferred to save battery...
