Good Morning from Cow Town. :)

A quick check in, read through all the posts, some great tunes to listen to as I read. Had a fun night last night with friends overs. Am about to head out for the day here, will catch you all in 14 hours or so. :)

I'm going light on the gear, but I don't have a laptop I know they can get heavy.

I need two carry-ons for my camera gear and laptop, with a few things for the flight thrown in. I really do need to cut down next trip though, as a couple lenses did not get much use, mostly primes with the exception of the macro at the zoo.

If you can stand it, here is my dad celebrating his 80th birthday (external link). My nephew came in from the UK and his sister from Paris, they asked him to sing and he obliged. In my family this is a regular happening, this is Miserloo.

That was great Crissa, the fella really has wonderful pipes. :)

No you didn't!! Drop and give me 50 for that negativity!! You're shots are great.

HAH! I can drop and give you one, maybe 2 after that I'm just dropped.:p

misspix wrote in post #4784197 (external link)
You knock it off, RIGHT NOW!!! You are a fantastic photographer, as well as a great coach/mentor.

Thanks all. I was momentarily depressed when 3 of my shots only got 2 votes and 1 got ZERO...and that one is in Performing Arts, my Canon Bread & Butter so to speak.

BUT, after a private conversation and all your support I'M SO OVER IT!!!!

FYI:

Never, ever judiciously fling burning bags of split pea soup with ham at a wedding party while they're doing their outside photo shoot. They really, really hate that.

Carry on.

Jotting this down. We have a couple in church pushing us to shoot their daughters wedding this summer. We are still shying away, yet, "Thinking" about doing it...stay tuned.

I'd enjoy a hospital stay listening to those pipes. 80 and have that kind of tone and breath control. Fabulous.

Did you cut the chees...I mean have some cheese?

Reminds me, the laptop case isn't going to work for me. Have to go back and either convert a bag like John showed us or bite the bullet and buy one. My birthday is just before the trip...maybe I need to drop some strong hints.

G'MAE all...today is going to be a lazy day for me, just a couple of errands and finish getting my lines permenantly in my head. And there is a shot I saw out my window that I'm going to take just for Permie, but you all will be able to look too.

Tis true, Neil, just had to josh a bit with Pete.

Pete it is good you found a photographer you are comfortable with and know you won't even have to think for a second about his settings, etc. You'll have enough on your mind that day.:)

I've been reading more sites, and I think just to be on the safe side, I'll pack two batteries in Allie's carryon and two in mine, and leave the rest. I have chargers so I should be ok.

Jamie Holladay wrote in post #4783668 (external link)
Wanda becareful of the batteries in you carryon. they have come out with new restricitions.

S'ok Wanda, that is for non rechargeable ones and you can still have them in carry on.

cylentka wrote in post #4783692 (external link)
Aren't all my camera batteries lithium? They are limiting them to two per person?? I don't get it.

Skrim17 wrote in post #4783698 (external link)
only in checked baggage for the non rechargeable kind like duracell or energizer.

Skrim17 wrote in post #4783703 (external link)
If I have a few packed in my carry on camera bag I can't see them giving me any guff about it but I guess we'll see.

Jamie Holladay wrote in post #4783704 (external link)
Only carry on and loose. If they are in your camera you ok. Just don't have loose ones in your bag. Put them in a checked bag (if you have one).

Lot of misinformation here. Cliff Notes version - if a battery has lithium, it can only be checked if it's installed in the device. The "2 battery" limit applies to batteries with more than 8 g. lithium. Any batteries not installed in a device must have their terminals covered (tape 'em over if you don't have the battery cover Canon shipped with 'em). More here on POTN, including a link to the TSA's page with rules, etc.

Thanks Jon, I didn't even know of this regulation as we fly so seldom. I'm not going to worry about my trip to FL in March.

1. I have charges.

2. I have the cap for my camera batteries.

3. I'll have one battery in the camera one in my ziplock and 4 in the flash unit. I'll have a camera battery charger and a AA charger in my bag. Lotion, shampoo, sunblock are already at the house or we can buy more.

4. I have 70+ quart size ziplocks.;) I bought a box of 50 thinking I didn't have any at home, forgot I had bought a box of 50 a couple months eariler.

Thanks, but I'm still confused. I'm taking batteries in the camera and two spares in my carryon and two spares in the kid's carryon, in separate baggies so their little terminals don't misbehave. If TSA gives me a hassle, I'll just leave them at the airport, I guess. :( Someday I'll learn not to travel with two cameras and a camcorder. ;)
