Just looking for a little input... I just picked up a like new in box minolta 70-210f4. After reading about them, they sound pretty good. What should i do with it? I have a 100-400,150mm macro and a 18-55kit for my xti. Is it worth getting an adapter? or should i just ebay it? Also i picked up a minolta 50mm 1.7....any input is much appreciated. -Justin

They should fit a Sony camera.

As far as I know a Maxxum-to-EOS adapter does not exist. Nor is it possible, for that matter, without performance-degrading optical elements, to create such a thing that will focus to infinity.

It isn't worth trying to adapt. I think you can remove the mount, add another mount and then get an adapter for EF but just sell it to someone who needs Minolta.

I had that lens when I was shooting with a Maxxum 5. It's a very good one at that.

If there is no adapter for minolta to Eos fit, then best to sell the glass on. Were you just curious or were you hoping to be able to use them?

It wouldn't be a terrible idea to use them on a Sony alpha, and that new Sony 700 looks pretty cool - but if you already have Canon gear I guess switching makes is not going to happen!

It can't be done properly because Minolta has a shorter register distance, but it's a nice piece of glass, my friend has one on his (Konica Minolta) 5D (not Canon).

I had that zoom on a Maxxum 7 I sold when I switched over to digital. The optics on that lens were outstanding as far as minolta lenses go. You could use those on the new Sony alpha's if you don't mind using two different outfits. I don't think you'd have much of a problem selling those lenses if thats what you decide to do.

Sounds like you just bought yourself the Minolta "Beercan".

People rave about it. So if you REALLY want to use it, think about moving to the Sony Alpha system. If not, sell it and stick with canon.
