Got a couple thousand shots on my 1DmkIII now and so far, the sensor is still clean, checked it today. My 30D's was dirty out of the box and my 5D's was a mess, pretty much always. My 1DmkII was used with 4K shutter clicks on it and it was pretty bad too by the time it was in my hands.
Now... if anything I change lenses more often now than with any of those bodies.
I'm thinking this sensor cleaning gimmick might just work!
Anyways......just a observation

I think it works pretty well. In nearly 20k clicks I've only wet cleaned my 1d-iii once, and that was probably from crap on the sensor at the factory. I've use a rocket blower a couple times, but thats it. Been very clean.

My XTi needed a bit more rocket-blower use than my 1d, but it also only had 1 wet cleaning(again from the factory spots).

My 40d was actually delivered with a clean sensor, so it'll be interesting to see how well it works on this camera. No dust after the first dozen lens changes.

So, overall, I've had good experience with the shakers.

So far so good with the Mark III. I've got 3k pics and a clean sensor but I'm very careful about changing lenses.

Having used the XTi for over 10K shots, I have cleaned the sensor maybe twice IIRC. I've cleaned the 30D a lot more than that.

I really do think the anti dust thing works. I was very skeptical at first, but I just really don't see the dust sensor with the XTi.

Thank goodness.

Yeah, you here folks talking down about the sensor shaker thing, how it doesn't really do much good, but I just wanted to put in my thumbs up and note that it actually does a good job and does work. Heck, my 5D was a dust magnet and as much as I love the 5D, that is one issue I have with it....it Didn't really ruin any shots (because I got decent at PP) But I did end up spending hours in front of the monitor cleaning it up.

I've read about this in negative trms too many times to count, and can't say my expereinces were at all similar.

to the contrary as with the OP, my MkIII has remained tidy since I got it. I trecked it for three weeks across Africa in VERY dusty conditions (Dry season) and no dust on sensor :)

Since I change my lenses frequently, I have only wet cleaned it once. I have to agree with you Matt about the 5D being a dust magnet but, other than that I've had no issues with my 5D. I'm happy you're having fun with your new toy Matt!

Mine has been exceptionally good too. I think there's now a few small unmovable ones, so may need to clean it soon! ;)
