Yes, I know I took too many photos again... Sorry

1. In the nicest possible way these guys are insane. Motard racing a mixture of off road and tarmac is becoming very popular. The fastest way around the tarmac corners it seems is to hang the backend out by getting on the power early and spinning up the rear.

2. I should have panned this shot …

3. And panned this shot more !

4. Proving the international flavour of the meeting, Matt Sadowski form the USA leads Australian Gareth Jones through the Suzuki Esses

5. It is not all about the latest and greatest – Greg Lockyer on a Matchless 350

6. Craig Waugh on his somewhat modified Norton Commando

7. And finally if your bike isn’t a classic get Athol “Curly” Michleson aged 74. Chatting to him in the pits he was complaining that the “back end is wagging about under power and the front is a bit loose but I’ll sort it” …

Interesting about the off road road-tarmac combo fusion.
The solo Commando, 6, looks loverly on its lonesome with oof bg in blue.
2, with the mud look on the track is great.

The Matchless and Norton - very nostalgic - hmmm - those motorcycles echoed through my youth... :)

74 years 'young' and still racing - fantastic.

A great set of shots across both these threads. Thanks.

I also think the flat tracking on the hard tarmac, in image 1, is very un-traditional, hence fusionistic. I want to say ground breaking, but hopefully not, if the stayed up right.

They stay up right. These two were amoungst the fastest Motard riders out there and were doin this on every lap. It seems that the motorcycle version of Swedish Cross is the fastest way around the corners

Is this 'motard' a new thing in NZ? it's been doing the rounds as 'supermoto' in Europe for years... ?! Cool shots though! :)

Cheers, Dave.

Not so much new as become an established sport with a deep following.
