I just bought a 40D and was trying it out tonight. When the upper most focus point lights up (in landscape position), there is some red flaring or reflecting going from the upper focus point to the top of the viewfinder. Is this normal? If not, is this something I can fix or should I take it back and exchange? Thanks

Joel

Yes.

I have it (slightly) on my 30D, it's obvious on my 300D, and most other models have it to some degree.

Thanks for the info and the link. I did a search earlier, but I wasn't sure what to search under. That makes me feel better. I'll quit worrying now and just go take pictures.

Good idea. Too many people obsess about their gear when they could be taking pictures. :)
