So, tons of picture taking at Christmas time. When I shot this one, it was just a quick snap shot - I didn't expect much of it. When I got done and hooked the camera up to my plasma TV to review some of the pics with the family, everyone made me print this one for them to take home.

Just looking for some C&C. Thanks!

I love the innocent capture that you have here. I know some people won't like the strands of hair but I think it adds to the fact that it wasn't staged, and is a natural picture.

If I was going to change anything it would be to remove the black edge on the left and perhaps add a little sharpening.

My Canon can.. I just need to find out how

It's a nice shot but it's framed wrong. You should have moved the framing over, so that she would be in the left half of the composition. As it is, she occupies the right half of the shot and she is looking to the right, which means she is looking out of frame.

It's hard for me to accept that this was actually shot at 70 mm (equivalent to 112 mm), because it looks like there is some distortion. Either it's just my imagination or it was shot from too close. ??

It was probably shot too close. Like I said, I just snapped it off not expecting too much out of it, but the family loves it. So I was hoping to get some input to make it a little better - because it's not a "great" picture. But it's cute and really captures my niece for the angel she really is.
