Hi all,

I just bought a Canon 40D and am very happy with this excellent camera, but...

My color space on the camera is set to RGB, yet when I transport them to the Mac they turn out to be sRGB, I've seen the suggestion of using a card-reader, tough I can't believe that's the only solution.

anyone got a clue ?

thanks

Color space on your camera is sRGB, just the same as the pictures are when you download them to the computer.
Card reader has absolutely nothing to do with Color Space.

RGB is a generic name for dozens of color spaces. Do you mean AdobeRGB? If your camera is set to output jpgs in AdobeRGB the image file numbers will be _MG_xxxx. If it is set to sRGB the numbers will be IMG_xxxx. If you are shooting RAW the color space must be chosen in the RAW converter since defining the color space is part of the process of converting the file to a jpg or tif.

Are you using raw images if so you may be converting it when you are converting to an image from Raw, in CS3 or ACR you need to set the color profile you want to edit you image in.

sRGB u need for web posting, Adobe is suppose to be better for printing

I know all about RGB and sRGB, and I do shoot raw, the problem is that on the camera the color space is set to RGB, but once imported the files are sRGB, very strange...I found other people on forums with a similar problem, the sugestion there was a card reader, wich is indeed a silly solution.

I'll check my prefrences of DPP, maybe the solution lies there. I switched from Nikon to Canon, so I'm still learning the camera bit by bit, and I must say i'm very happy I've made the switch !

thx
