I have the following lens for my 5D:
Canon EF 70-200mm f4 L
Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro
I was planning to buy the 24-70mm f2.8 when a friend advised me that he had returned same after experiencing edge to edge focus inconsistencies and purchased the 24-105 instead. Is the 24-105 a superior lens to the 24-70mm? I am looking for mainstay lens for my 5d - the 'always on' lens. I want this lens to be a keeper, so I am aiming for best in class in this range.
The Sigma is going, as the barrel distortion is too high and people always look funny with this lens at anything close to its widest setting. My sense is that I will make do with 24mm for now and maybe eventually get Canon's 17-40mm L (which I owned and sold :cry. Any advice welcome.
