Kind of a spur of the moment portrait for my cousins last night in their backyard and it was freezing so everyone was in a hurry. Unfortunately they don't like the way the girl's standing so I was hoping someone could help me with crop suggestions or convince me it doesn't look too bad haha. I would just retake it but they live a few hours away. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Can someone explain what's wrong with the way she is standing?!

I guess then, if they really don't want to see how she's standing, is to crop off her legs. Probably in a portrait orientation.

I like the crop the way it is, the only thing I would do is take that bright line spot on the building, (to left of her hip) and dull it so it matches the rest of the building and doesn't stand out so much. Actually, maybe in about an inch on the left, so that bright spot at the top of the green hill isn't distracting either, but if you do that maybe half an inch on the right as well, so it's still not centered. Cute pic!

Maybe it's not so much the way she's standing, as the visual distraction caused by the seperation between the skirt (?) and boots. If you don't like the crops you come up with by *losing* the legs, you could try bringing down the length of the skirt or pants or whatever they are. Beautiful photo!!

Yeah I like the pic too. I think the way the girl is standing isn't bad since she's so young it ends up cute. I think you would have a hard time cropping the legs out since you have different leg lengths and someone would end up cropped odd.

Thank you for the ideas, this is a rough draft, but do you think this is better?

I think it's a great shot as is.. I'd be very happy with it! Especially as it was last minute as you say, they shouldn't be TOO picky :)

What sort of flash/diffuser did you use? It looks very nice!

Lol, the sandals were the the first thing that I saw. Just clone them shut :)

Otherwise I really like this pic, the lighting looks very good and most importantly the faces look relaxed and happy. Well done :)

Edit: I see you're in OC too, no wonder the scenery looks so familiar.
