Yeah, B&H has a used one for $99K

I think the 2.8 IS is heavy ... that 1200mm baby is 36lb - OUCH!!

when something weighs 36lbs do you need IS?

also are you ever going to be using IS when on a tripod, from waht I understand, IS doesn't work on tripods.

IS works on tripods (in newer lenses) just fine. But it's very unlikely you'll be handholding the 1200mm, IS or not.
