Yeah mine is not that sharp around the edges. At f/11, yes but at 5.6, no. I'm not totally happy with the reach either, and it doesn't take the x2 extender that well either. Also, I think it's a little bulky on my 350D. I hope they trim it down a little for the MK II version.

Seriously, if I had a hundred grand I'd be all over it!

Wow, I don't know why they're selling it off that cheap! I bought it for my 14 year old nephew who has a used 300D because I heard that a prime can help you learn basics like composition better. The only problem is he can't seem to pick it up! I'm really disappointed in Canon for this and I'm thinking of going to Nikon and then sticking with zoom lenses for him!
