For the benefit of those new to the forum, a brief history lesson:
Last year, Dell advertised the 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens for $1,299.95 less 10% ($1,169.00). This was at a time when the lens was selling for around $1,600 at places like B&H.
Sketcher, in a weak and possibly foolish moment, decided to single-handledly try to make order out of chaos. His efforts went on for months.
For the rest of the story, (6 pages worth) check out this thread. It's interesting reading, if for no other reason than you will see how we all speculated endlessly about whether Dell would eventually come through, and whether or not they were bad guys, or good guys trying to make the best of a bad situation.
The bottom line: Everyone (I think) that ordered the lens from Dell got it, although it took months in some cases. We've heard different numbers, but everyone agrees that at least 500 people took advantage of the offer before Dell was able to remove it from their website. Dell did come through, and we'll probably never know if it was a mistake, a marketing ploy, or what. In that regard, I wouldn't be skeptical of the 10% discount on a 20D now. They do things like this from time to time.
