dragulaz Senior Member 408 posts Joined May 2006 Location: Cincinnati, Ohio More info | I'll provide my input, since I recently went from an XT to the 5D. Definitely buy L glass. I started building my L glass collection as soon as I could. If you invest in quality glass from the beginning, you will have lenses that will last a lifetime. Stay away from the EF-S lenses obviously, as they will not be compatible with the 5D. And as a previous poster mentioned...buy the vertical grip. It will provide much better balance with the heavier lenses. I have the 24-105 L and I love it. For me the extra reach was more important than the faster 2.8 lens. But who knows, maybe one day I'll have 24-70 too. Bret
