greetings POTN,

i shot my first wedding on sunday. i had a good time, it was a great experience. i have yet to go through all my photos. i was not the main photographer, so i am mostly just editing these for my own pleasure. most of the shots are from the reception, since i had a blast there ; )

anyways, i definitely need to invest in a bigger camera with better noise control. my hands hurt so bad!

Nice stuff - #4 is particularly well executed. I like #8 as well, I would try and bring up the exposure on the couple a little bit, just to get them to pop! You might try to select the area around them with a pretty wide feather and either use a slight S curve adjustment or use the fill flash feature in Lightroom if you have it. There are probably 100 other ways to do it, use a layer mask, duplicate image, etc... These are just the techniques that came immediately to mind.

4,6, 8 are fab. You really have your own style. Your own personal stamp. I look forward to seeing more work from you.

thanks for the comments guys :) glad to see that i didnt completely blow this one!
i normally shoot cars, as that was the main focus of my photography, when i was asked to take pics of people, it was quite a change! ended up browsing almost every one of these threads to get ideas before the wedding :)

as for 8 being a little dark, i opted to lower the exposure a bit because of the noise, any higher and it looks like someone had sprinkled colored sand over everyone :P
i definitely need to look into getting a better body... maybe something like a 40d or 5d?

The 5D is excellent in low-light. We routinely shoot at ISO 1600, with almost no grain issues... The 40D low-light performance is not as strong, but it is much better than the XTi

I'd say work with what you got...
I've pushed my XTI in PS to 3200 with no problem (just ran noiseware on it but there was not that much noise to begin with anyway). I watch my exposure and underexpose 1 stop so when I push it in PS the exposure will be dead on. I can say that based on my tests you can do a 2 stage push (1600-6400) and it was still good after noiseware even when printed on 8x10
Good Exposure + curves + noiseware = great recipe for dealing with noise.

The ordinary tool in the right hands can have surprising results.

understandable, but at a wedding, sometimes you just dont have time to get the exposure dead on the first try, or even over exposing given the conditions. ie the last shot, they were coming out quick, i didnt have time to nail the exposure, since we were outside. my lens was f4, iso1600 was the highest i could go, and i needed shutter speed that i could handhold.

im not completely blaming the gear, but it would be a lot easier if i knew i could have something at iso3200 off the bat, and not worry about "iso pushing" in photoshop. thats one less thing i would have to worry about.

i know i sound ignorant, but i know where you are coming from. i used to stitch photos together instead of buying a wideangle lens, but in the end theres no substitute for the actual thing.

dont worry about the exif :P its off, i used the same frame for my photos, and that happens to be the exif data for the framing.
