Thought I'd post some pictures I took 1 month ago while working near Buenos Aires. On New Year day veterans are less likely to pounce on newbies, so it may be a good day to start! . Had only 1 day off and a mediocre lens so please excuse the quality.

Happy New Year to all !

1. This is probably a Gilded Sapphire/Hummingbird

2. Here a ubiquitous White-browed Mockingbird

3. Guira Cuckoo. Boy are they noisy!

4. Golden-breasted woodpecker, hangs out on the ground a lot.

5. Great Kiskadee.

6. Limpkin (there's something of a crane, ibis and a rail in this one.)

7. If you were in Argentina and didn't hear a Southern Lapwing screaming, you're deaf

8. Last but not least - Hornero, Argentina's national bird, known for funny walk (remember Ministry of Silly Walks?)

Welcome to the forums. Lovely set of photos. My particular favourite is the southern lapwing.

Thanks all for the welcome - here are a few more, unfortunately all from the Croppus Maximus genus..
All taken near the sewage canal reeking of oil and chemicals. Somehow the birds didn't mind.

9. Silver teal

10. Cattle Tyrant

12. White-faced duck

14. Finally the Southern Lapwing again - with wing spurs like 20mm guns on a Spitfire
