24 on a crop would be more versatile. It would give you a wider FoV so you can do everything from C/U portraits, full lengths and groups in smaller areas. With the normal FoV those groups and F/L might not happen. They are BOTH great lenses. I'm glad I have both. The 35 is the one I couldn't live with though. Thats the reason I think on a 1.6 crop the 24 would be a better choice.

I really want to like the 50mm f/1.2... But all this talk of the 24mm has me interested.

i've wanted the 35 1.4L but i don't really care for the FOV on a FF camera. i figure 35mm will be perfect on the 1d3 :D. i looked at those earlier and they are very nice!

Thanks, Ed.

Yeah, I've never worked with 35mm on FF/film so I'm not used to the FoV there (I used 28mm) - but you're right, on a 1.3x or 1.6x it's outstanding. If I went FF I'd probably bite the bullet and get the 50mm f/1.2L...

But I do like the 24mm FoV - on my 24-70mm, I'm usually at one end or the other and I believe - more often than not, it's at 24mm. I'll have to look in Lightroom at the averages of the EXIF/metadata now! :)

thats how i am with most zoom lens as well after checking exposureplot software. with my 17-55, im either at 17 or 55 lol .. when i had the 24-105, it was either 24 or 105

really want that 24L though but i have to sell something first before doing so. either 135L or 70-200L f2.8 IS .. i hardly used the 70-200 since i purchased it in may and its practically new. 135L i got used end of last year and i prefer it more beign that its smaller and lighter. i could sell the 70-200 and get the 24L + 1.4TC for the 135. hmm decisions decisions

Mind sharing how you would do this using Lightroom?

I am also interested of getting the focal lengths I used for ALL my shots and be able to group them as UWA, WA, Normal, Tele, SuperTele. Determining the average would be useful to help me decide what primes I'll need. For example, anything equal or less than 35mm but greater than 24mm will be belong to Wide Angle group, etc...

I have not use LR yet. I am using Bridge to do my PP workflow. Thanks.

I heard you get distortion from the 24mm f/1.4 L on a crop body.

I'd have to agree with this. I had both and quickly got frustrated feeling like switching around was just too much of a PITA.
