She needs to take a photo of a flying Kiwi :-D

You know as a nerd you do sometimes get some basic facts wrong.;)

While it's true that kiwis have wings they do not fly. They are also shy and nocturnal, so unless lisa has got some night vision equipment it's not that easy to get a photo of a kiwi.

:p :lol::lol:

I know that they cannot fly on their own... but we have trebuchets and can give them the chance to experience flying :-D

It was just a game...didn't care one way or the other...I just don't like to see such poor behavior by a coach and players at the college level.

You know I really like this shot. However I think you need to feel the photo that is bursting to come out.

to me, this is the edit that I would give it.

Cutting off some of that bottom helps bring the focus of that shot more to the lighthouse.

I know, sometimes it is still depressing. I have this ethics book I need, cheapest I can find it is 60 bucks (ironically that is local at Powell's books). Sigh, I bet the authors wish that saw as large a piece of the retail prices as the publishers get...

I think I agree with both of you! I often confine myself to the 2:3 aspect ratio. I ought to think outside the box more.

You guys are scaring me away from wanting anything new. I get frustrated with the focus on the 20D sometimes and start thinking about what else is out there, then hear horror stories and think I can wait a while longer again.

David, I was looking through all of my shots and I'm very happy. I remembered that the series that I thought "should have" all been in focus were taken through the windshield. I forgot that earlier. I was getting in position so my friend (in the passenger seat) could get the shots. I just shot because I could (through the window). So, no worries for the 40D! WHEW!!

I wouldn't worry about that too much if I was you. A lot of people do that. People think that the photo you have taken with in the frame is what it should be. You shouldn't worry about aspect ratio when it comes to photos. You have to let the photo speak to you. it will tell you what shape it should be.

There is no right/wrong shape for a photo.
