Permie...I'm sure that any other processing will do wonders for the mistake of the photog on this shot. But I have to ask though....was she picking her nose behind the camera when she was looking through the viewfinder?? Really...she must have needed a smoke break or something to have the jitters that bad. Unless, she realized that she was taking pictures for a photog family and felt very self conscious of herself....you intimidated her didn't you?

lol, no I did not intimidate her. She was using my camera (a whole different beast from the xti that she owned) because her battery died and her spare wasn't working. Dan offered her the 30D (which we should have stuck to our guns over) because the interface is similar, but for some reason she wanted to use my camera. She wanted me to put it on green box but I told her several times that there was no green box. And explained where the focus button was. She was overwhelmed I think. She was sick too, I found this out later, so perhaps not thinking clearly. This shot was at 105mm and 1/30 at 7.1. She didn't know how to change any of the settings on the M3, it's nowhere near the same as the xti to adjust...so it went poorly.

and Wool, I tried watercolor...I think this looks as good as I'm going to get.

she's my daughter's good friend and has shot weddings as a backup...it just was her first time as the main shooter...she had a lot of problems (2 batteries with only one working) no separate flash. It definitely turned out to be a learning experience for her. I'm REALLY glad I shot everything that I did. I've never even seen her other shots yet, I don't think the kids have either. But Tif stands behind her decision to hire her.

I need an opinion on something....remember how I told you the photographer had my camera during the kid's wedding (the ceremony part)? Well, after they were pronounced husband and wife they took a photo of themselves with a P&S (it didn't turn out....sadly but it was such a funny thing for a bride and groom to do) and the photog took a photo of them doing it...it didn't turn out...blurry (I don't think she used the * button to focus...I told her about it but hardly any shots of the ceremony are in focus)...but because we're a photography family I've tried to do my best to salvage that shot. I've turned it into a painting like thing with textures and ect to soften the look...does this work at all? (I couldn't figure out any other way to save it)

QUOTED IMAGE

Pete wrote in post #4667893 (external link)
Looks good, Lisa. Didn't photoshop used to have some kind of de-blur filter (kind of the reverse of motion blur)?

In the filter menu under Sharpen there is a tool called "Smart Sharpen." It has a feature that is supposed to clean up or reduce motion blur in the image, but I've never found it to work well. The before and after are almost identical, at least in CS2...

You noticed that too, Huh?

Very obvious she couldn't hold that huge camera still at 1/30th of a second...

I think she got the focus - look at Little's arm. It was the motion that hurt. You got about all that could be got, short of doing a complete overpaint on it.

Her loyalty's admirable then.

I don't even think I could hold that combo still at 1/30th of a second. I can't remember if i had the flash bracket on but I think I did...it's a heavy thing...and she was a tiny girl.

you're right the waist area on Tif does look in focus. That's pretty amazing at 1/30

That's all that matters and that there are at least some shots of the ceremony....the processing actually makes it look a little like a dream...nice.

That's the culprit...she was tired of holding the rig up by that time.

yeah. It was my best option at the time. With the huge bright window and the super dark room I decided to use that over the 17-40.

Then that's what saved it . . . Even so, she must have been pretty steady at 1/30 with a strange (and not light) rig, that far into the day.

she only used it during the ceremony so it was about 20min. worth, but honestly hauling it (when you are used to the weight of the xti) for 20min is something to be proud of :lol:

I promised some shots for some of you... Here they are. All taken at the train station!

I did fire the flash at the right time to have the logo of the railway company...

And finally 2 shots of the tickets vending machine ;-)a

Hey! Most of that stuff is in an entirely different language! ;)

Occurred to me moments later (posting delayed by the dryer buzzing and Jeopardy) she used flash (visible in window) which explains the look. Tiff and foreground were lit by the flash, we're seeing FFSIL (Brian?) and the rest of the edges blurred from backlight at 1/30.
