Thanks. It's hard to image that 46 years ago, I was a relatively happy, carefree single man. By the end of the day, things were very different.

I am now a die-hard marraige junkie.

Happy Anniversary Chief.

Ohhh and Moooooo, mornin all.:D

The Nascar season is coming up pretty quick...the bummer is im missing shots of my baby girl....lol...I never did get my p&s for Christmas. I had it on my list for Santa.....guess i shouldnt have eaten the cookies the kids left for him....oops

Just a quick second to stick my head in. Anniversary is going okay. We're still married.

I'm at the Rancho Cucamonga Apple Store looking to get into mischief. Shouldn't be hard.

Check in again later tonight. I have a little work to do here right now.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

More is better.

I just picked up a couple light stands, but I need hot shoe adapters for them, and I want to pick up a couple umbrellas. I was surprised how cheap that stuff is, although the local shop doesn't have them. Does anyone know what the thread is on the mast of a typical light stand?

Depends. Most of mine have a brass ferrule that you anchor whatever to via a set-screw. It's around 5/8" dia., but not threaded. A couple of them have a 1/4-20 threaded bit on top. I just pick up some adjustable umbrella brackets; mine came with ht shoe adapters as well.

I have a question for anyone here who has experience with the 70-200 f2.8 IS...

Thursday evening I have to drive up to Beverly Hills and shoot at this (external link) event. The editor has cautioned me about the low light at the venue. I have my new Tamron 28-75 f2.8 (which I purchased after shooting a similar event with the 28-135) and I'm thinking about renting the 70-200 f2.8 to get a little bit more reach. I don't know how close I'm going to be able to get to the podium during the awards.

If anyone has experience with this lens in low light situations, I'd like to hear about them.

Funny you should ask. I was out at a horse expo today popping away with the 70-200 2.8 and 580EX on the 20D (ISO 3200). A random shot (I'm still downloading & indexing) anyway 150 ft. away across the length of the indoor arena. Tv 1/200 and the flash was doing its job well enough I could have gone to 1600 I think. This has had nada done to a straight 100% crop from the JPEG Small (1758x1152) aside from compression to get it small enough to attach.

Just walked in and got caught up.

Not a great photog day. Weather was terrible. Light was terrible. Our primary subject (wind/kite surfers) were a no-show. So we went back to Ridgefield for a little bit on the way home. Had to use ISO 3200. Just loading the pics now.

Very cool, Scott.

Did I mention that Puddle almost killed our Bittern yesterday? We were on our final lap and hadn't seen him yet. We were just talking about him when he suddenly flew right in front of the Tahoe! Puddle was driving.
