shot Morrissey at the end of October for The Big Takeover (new issue out now, including my shots and review). i'm a huge Smiths fan and like his solo stuff ok, but haven't seen him on a stage since '86 or so w/ the Smiths (on what was i think their only US tour). the man is still a performer w/o a doubt. good show. only had the 1st two songs to shoot, used my 30D w/ 17-55 and rental 5D w/ 70-200...no photo pit but i stayed in the leftmost aisle and shot away...he moved around a lot so i didn't have to.

Grand images. The Pro performers always make it easy for the 'togs ... move around, get the mic out of their face a good part of the time, pose, emote and usually have decent lights! These are excellent. I can't wait until you get the "first 30 seconds of the second song" rule bullpucky at a concert! :-)

bolded for truth.

i can't imagine trying to get a good shot in 30 seconds...damn, i'd be bracketing like a mad man for that!

shannyD and aurora, thanks for the kind words. he did play 5-6 Smiths' songs, which was glorious (of course we got "How Soon Is Now", but also some wildcards like "Stretch Out And Wait" and "Death of a Disco Dancer").

WAIT, Wait, wait! You mean you don't bracket like a madman now? I thought everybody would be doing that since I recommend it all the time!

i know they do, but if i burn through my buffer using the for 2-3 bracketed shots, i gotta wait...i like having it locked and loaded for the decisive moment. :)

But, that's why you always shoot with two or more bodies! I sound like I am beginning to repeat myself!:lol::lol:
