Is it a good idea? If so, what brand? I see Sage warranties carried by B&H.
Thanks!

As for insurance you bet, never leave home without it, I bought about 10K worth of what is called a personal articles policy from State Farm that covers theft, damage etc. Cost was $140 CDN with no deductible, IMO you have to has insurance on this stuff. amen to all of that. i never bought an extended warranty on any of my items but for me, insuring your gear is a must and a total no brainer. i mean, i pay about $200 a year which gives me piece of mind knowing that my entire kit is covered no matter what. think about it this way: the warranty will pay for itself the first time you drop a lens or lose an item.

Plus, if I decide to sell the mkIII someday, like to upgrade to the mkIV I can transfer the warranty to the buyer, seems like a good sales incentive My Flickr

The extended warranty is peace of mind.

Jan 02, 2008 07:19 | #7 Thanks for all of the responses. I have State Farm home owners insurance and auto insurance. I already have special riders for electronic equipment. Seems easy enough to just call my agent and add the special coverage for the camera gear. Dan
