This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the break down of the game. I will post a picture, that I like, resized to exactly 800 pixels maximum on the longside. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to the levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 48hrs and who ever can produce the best edited image will be picked and it'll be there turn to post there unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at it.

The participants must have there "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide a simple breakdown of how they edited the image so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

Also, please keep all comments be it positve or negative to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the a game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example..the next game should read (Before and After #3).

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This game will end on January 4, 2008 @ 7AM EST.

OK, I adjusted levels to the left till I liked what I saw, adjusted hue of red channel +24 and green channel +18 (when I adjust these channels I click on the color in the image to adjust the specific color slider), then I cropped to get rid of the sky I didn't like, finally I burned the area of the bare woods around the house a touch.

OK i had a play with it - but i am a novice in elements
this what i think i did
blended the levels a couple of times, increased the contrast and brightness and did some dodge and burning and then increased the contrast in the sky to give it a bit of life. straghtened the image and cropped a little.

OK, well, I started by opening it up in Camera RAW in CS3 and adjusted the exposer and saturation in there. I then opened it as a smart object. I created two layers of the orginal and opened them both up in Camera Raw again and did some further adjustments. After that I painted in the highlights and the shadows/darks. I then went to the photo filter and added a little more warmth. After that I went to unsharp mask and adjusted accordingly.

Crissa, I didn't know you could open a jpeg in raw either.. I will have to try. Chris, if there is a process to it can you please explain.. I also love what you did to the clouds here.. I agree Monty. there are some great shots here. I think you are going to have a hard time figuring out a winner. Just think there is another 24+ hours to get more entries.. LOL

Here's how you open up a Jpeg in Camera RAW.

Open up CS3 and go to File.

Under File click on PC: (Open As) Mac: (Open).

Then go to the folder you have your image saved in and choose it.

Then choose Camera RAW from the drop down menu PC: (It'll be in the drop down menu at the bottom where you can change between file formats.)

Mac: ( It'll be under the Format menu)

I hope this helps.
