The reason we get to call our champions "World Champions" is because the best players from all over the world come to the US to play professional sports. While a USA national team may lose to another country's national team, the best players on that other country's national team will often play professionally in the US. Our "World Champions" are rarely comprised entirely of naturalized US citizens.

Case in point. 8 players on the 2004 Argentine national basketball team that Stealthy mentioned spent time in the NBA at some point in their careers.

OIC That actually makes sense. Still, I'll continue to mock the arrogance of the name(s). :p :p

You know, the best players in cricket will go and play in the English county league, but they don't call that the world championship.

Why don't they have a baseball team based in Japan and Korea (or both) both those countries are crazy about baseball?! Seriously, that would be a good idea I think. I mean it's Major League Baseball, doesn't have to be contained within the U.S.

Last years MVP of the World Series , Hideki Matsui , is from Japan. http://www.huliq.com …es-winner-matsui-mvp-2009 (external link) To bad the Yankees didn't keep him this year.

If they had a team in Japan , I think travel time would be a killer. Besides Baseball is America's past time and it should stay that way :D.

Cricket was invented in England, but they have international matches and so on. Is there an international baseball league?

BTW I've never seen a baseball match, but it was on TV in a restaurant I was in on Sunday. I watched about 5 minutes.... BORING! Nice hats though.

Give me 1 day cricket any day. That's not boring at all...........

I read the second to last sentence as "time travel would be a killer". My subconscious is telling me something, I know it. But I haven't the foggiest what it is.

But it still needs the Flux Capacitor. You also need to get the right time continuum and whatever you don't let your future self see you.

I've just came back from the future and Canon has replaced the 1ds Mark 5 with the 0.5Ds superleggera.

The 60D came out in 2014.

Let's face it, they are both booring. I'm sure they only get interseting because after 4 or 8 hours of watching them, you get damn drunk doing it :) Anything is "grouse (external link)" after that.

What are you guys talking about...
There's nothing better than a test match that goes the full five days.
You just don't understand the intricacies of the long version of the game.
It's not just about a fast bowler trying to take the batsman's head off etc.
It's the mind games the skippers play - who to bowl, when to declare etc, etc.
Have a look at the last three Sydney Tests - two of them were decided with just minutes and a handful of deliveries left to play after five days - riveting stuff. Or the last Ashes Adelaide test that Australia should never have won when England set 500 plus in their first dig - amazing stuff.

Sure there's the one day international 50 over games and now Twenty20 which are both great and give an instant result, but there aint nothin' like a test match that goes the distance.
It doesn't get much better than that.
Bring on the Ashes.

The English invented Cricket because they couldn't hit a 90mph + fastball  !
