These are so far from perfect! (except the subject) No one has any tips? I'm trying to get a handle on my new 580 ex. I am excited about the potential! But, I'm having a hard time not missing the moment, trying to get set up. Especially in situations like these. Does it ever become second nature???? I was set at 800 iso 5.6, 1/125, Flash straight forward at -2 what should I have done?

Those are cute shots!
You're right.. I would have bounced the flash also, but I love the stop motion on the water. In my experience, you do not need to bump up the ISO so high, when using flash.
Also..no need to crank the flash power down when bouncing.. I usually crank mine up actually +1. (Depends on how high your ceilings are, mine are pretty high)

Thanks! Yeah I really like how the water froze in this series. Here's another one. He splashes so hard he has to shut his eyes. I think it's hilarious!
