Not sure where to post this one, so I thought General would be most appropriate.

Anyway a couple of months ago my Grandmother phoned me wanting me to explain a photo a friend of hers had taken at a get together, from here explanation I was stumped I could not think of a single thing that was causing what she was describing. Anyway, we were heading her way for Christmas so I asked her to get a copy of one of the shots (there are several all with the same 'phenomenon').

Pictures are worth a 1000 words or so I am told so here it is:

Check out the third person from the front on the left

Here is a close up of that part of the image:

The original was taken on a Pentax Film based point and shoot using 35mm film, I took a photo of it using my 40D as I had to return the original. As I said earlier apparently the same effect occurs to the same person in several shots.

After visiting the place where they had lunch I have a down to earth theory that seems to fit quite well, but in the mean time I will leave it to you to see what you all think!

(One thing my theory doesn't explain is the shape of the silhouette...)

Too much flash on Jay Leno. Only thing I can come up with. Try to share some of the light with the others.....

I was also going to say skylight. But that silhouette is funny - very cartoonish.

Poo!!!

Anyone skilled in the true sciences (astrology. parapsychology, telekinetics, etc.) can instantly see that this is a psychic phenomenon indicating that the incandescent individual will die in a fire within a year. It's just basic precognition, people.

Oh, yes. The aural manifestation is white. That shows that he/she led a virtuous life and will be going to Heaven

i might be wrong but if you look close it looks as though you can see the persons arm normally, and the person casts a glow off to the others next to her,

I still like the Chiefs explanation best. Poo on the skylight.

Definitely the skylight. You can even see the border of the sunlight diagonally across her chest.
