My laptop recently decided to give me the Dell Blue screen of death. Well, having spent countless hours reinstalling everything, I still cannot get CS2 working normally.

The menu options show up as some vague boxes. Anyone else have this issue?

The menu options in Bridge, Imageready etc seem to work fine.

What langauges do you have installed in Windows? What's the default? It looks like a problem with it choosing the wrong character set to me.

Its all English. Every other application seems to work fine except CS2 :(

Well, the only change from last time is that the OS is Win XP professional and not Win XP MCE.

This might be a stupid question, and don't answer if you like; but is your copy of PS bootleg? I have seen this before on people's computers I have done work on.

Please don't think I am saying you have pirate software, I have just seen this issue before.

Nope, its not. I was hoping Adobe would have some sort of technical support - but they charge by the question. Hoping I dont have to shell out for that.

Incidentally, I have a copy of PS6 of questionable origin - and it seems to install fine.

ps: I did some research and looks like there are lots of issues of CS2 discs that say 'made in S'pore', like mine. But even those talk about issues with keyboard shortcuts - not the boxes stuff.

Anyone?

Uninstall CS2 again.

Then delete the folder inside your Program Files folder (there's settings left behind even though you've uninstalled the app).

Re-install CS2 and all should be fine.

Amazing what happens when you use google, isn't it?

If that doesn't work as expected, do it again, but look through the Registry for "Adobe" and delete any values that are to do with Photoshop. The deleting of the folder should do the trick though.

Deleting stuff out of the registry should be done with extreme care.
