Flash Battery Packs for 550ex

Hey,
I've been looking at flash battery packs, and was wondering what the differences (besides weight) were between the Transistor E and the cp-e2?

The reson I'm looking is because I want a faster recycle, and need a fill strobe (can the 550ex do this?) for outdoor day time close skateboarding photography. I know that's a mouth full, and thanks for the help!

I have not made the purchase yet but I have to agree with Scott on the Quantum battery packs. I've seen them in action with more than one photographer & they're awesome.

I have both the Quatum Battery 1 which would be for Vivitar 283/285's, the 550EX and most other four AA battery flashes; and the Quantum Battery 2 which is for my Metz 45 series flashes. Before NiMh batteries the Quantums made the most sense to me, and mostly it meant that I could go all day without worrying about power since I could see how much was left.

But when I got the 550EX I bought NiMh batteries and wanted to see how that'd go and I've been extremely pleased. There's no umbillical and these things seem to go all day. If I was planning on doing the shoot you described I'd just have a second, and perhaps a third set of four AA NiMh batteries. Those extra sets are going to a lot cheaper than any kind of battery pack, including the Canon's; will be much lighter, and won't tie you down with another cable that could fail at some point.

Consider the Quantum 1/C. It is a compact battery pack that attaches to the bottom of the camera via the tripod socket. It should work well for action photography.
