i'm going to take tony's lead and keep images from each night in the same thread. they played three nights in atlanta. this first night was at a 900 person theater, which was a charity event for tunes for tots; they raise over $200,000 for local school music programs. the next two nights are at the largest venue in atlanta, philips arena 20,000+. the new year's eve show marked 17 consecutive "sold out" shows at philips which is a record for the venue.

also not that i rented a 5d, 24-70L, and sigy15 fish for this run. Exif should be there.

anyway, the regular LD (candace brightman) was not there for the roxy show, so it was a bit darker than i am used to for the first three. i had a hard time getting a decent shutter speed. now that i am done typing this novel, here are the pictures:

Great set... You're finding your comfort zone with this band... The set overall is well presented, too. congrats.

Nice set, and I like the marquee shot too! ;)

thanks john. i'm trying to get out of the comfort zone. i think i shot the band 15 times this year; most of which was first three from the pit. i'm trying to find new ways to approach it.

it is SO much nicer. the colors are deeper and the noise is WAY less. my wallet is really going to hate me when the mkII comes out. thanks for the feedback though. there is another marquee shot in the gallery that is more of the building.

amen to that. if you search my site you will find a blog entry i wrote about his death. but with all that said, i don't think there is a better replacement than jimmy.

don't seem to be getting any feedback from the link above so i will post a couple of the pictures. the gallery i used strips the Exif from the image, but it is listed on the webpage; it also made it bigger i think. anyway

I like the first 4 and #9.
I prefer 12 to 11, but am still bothered a bit by the had and headstock over the face. That and the leg position in 12... Can't win 'em all ;)

thanks for the comment rené. the leg position was why i liked it so much though, which i thought was a trade off the the headstock in the face.

anyway, i should have night two up by tomorrow.

edit: here is a gif with the sequence (and yes, it shows my pp inconsistencies  )

this is the largest "keeper" ratio i've ever had. after the first cut was was only able to narrow it down from 400 to 100. i finially made it down to 61 and then just started processing them. i did a lot of different styles of pp. i am a fan of the antique light preset in LR.

you can see them all here: http://musicphotog.com/wp-gallery2.php (external link)

here are a couple

#18 jimmy doesn't move a lot. down on the neck and eye brows raised is about as much as you will get from him.

#20 this one was taken from "fob, dfc" which is the sweet spot for the fans that are allowed to record the show. obviously wasn't planning on this outcome, but it ended up being one of my favorites
