I've heard nothing but praise for it. I think I've made the right choice :)

I thought mine was too when I got mine; however, she didn't even notice it! To this day I can't figure out why she hasn't noticed the big white lens; it's way bigger (and whiter) than my 17-85.

Congrats! Remember, it will be with you a very long time. Enjoy!.

I'm also close to ordering this lens but need to pay off my other recent purchases first.

I've had mine for 6mo, it's been great for telephoto as well as macro(w/extension tubes)!
...and my wife did knock me around a bit when she found out how much ;0D

Ketoi, when you shoot macro do you notice softness or spherical aberration at 200mm MFD?

I haven't noticed any spherical aberration, the last two were taken at 200mm

You'll love this lens, it was the first "L" I got and made me decide it'd be nothing but "L's" after that. Enjoy!

Ok cool thanks, the flowers look similar to my lens results, I think maybe it's just that the dof is so thin at 200mm that it looks a bit soft. I haven't tried tripod mounting and shooting yet, all my softies were handheld, I'll give that a go

that's gonna put a dent in the 'ol wallet. I can't say too much though, I'm buying all L's simply for build quality.
