Hello,

I already own a Rebel K2 35mm and I am buying a Rebel XTi this week. I am looking for a sharp lens under $400. I mostly take photos of landscapes and waterscapes. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Tamron 17-50/2.8 or a Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5 Macro. Tammy has better IQ accroding to what I've read, the Sigma's got more range and the near-macro ability. I haven't used either of these lenses though- just read about them. According to all, you'll be happy with either.

I assume you want to be able to use it on both bodies. You may have to check the used market.

Canon 28-105
Canon 28-135
Tamron 17-35
Tamron 28-75
Sigma 24-70

Jarrad makes a good point- the two I recommended only fit APS Sensors.

If not, also consider the 18-55 IS.

Used Tamron 28-75, and a 50mm f/1.8

Can get both for 400! and still have money left for a burger and a coke!

The 50mm f/1.8 II is limited in its applications but it is so sharp it is sharper than many L lenses.

First What lenses do you currently have I believe that the K2 is an EOS mount so your current lenses will fit on a XTi. They will appear to be longer than they appear on you K2 however sue to the smaller sensor. Is there is a "kit" lens Included with the XTi you are planning to buy?

Welcome to the forum!

I have the T2 and the XTi, I received the 50mm f/1.4 for Christmas but have not used it on my T2 yet....guess I should get out there and try it. I'll let you know how it goes. It may be way too much for landscapes!

Under $400?
Consider a Sigma 17-70mm. Very nice lens and versatile too. It's well under $400 and comes with a hood. That should also give you enough left over for a polarizer if you like landscapes.
