You have burning barrels in the street?! I can't imagine the Health & Safety police would like that over in the UK :D

Nice B&W shot by the way, and welcome to the Forums too :D

Both are very good shots. Welcome to the forums:)

...But still the clever north wind was not satisfied. It spoke to her of towns yet to be visited, friends yet to be discovered...

LOL Ever watch any of the Rocky movies? this is the street he ran down, the burning barrels were not props, they are fueled by the cardboard that the produce ships in. it's a little crazy though.

thanks for the welcome:D

dgoakill,
Nice shots. Welcome to the forums. Would there be any chance to see the first one in color...really, I am just curious on how it turned out in color.

here's the black and white shot as it came out of the camera. I rotated and cropped in Photoshop. Desaturation was done as RAW edit.

I think I am partial to the color version with the edits you posted first...of course with more color saturation instead of de-saturation.

I love the first one in color! That's great. My mom-in-law lives outside philly, I might have to investigate. Welcome!

It's about 6 or 7 blocks south of south street on 9th. (where the photo was taken) the market itself runs from about 2 or 3 blocks south of south street and continues for about 7 or 8 blocks ending at Pat's and Geno's.

If you were familiar with Philly, you would know that burning barrels are the least of the police problems.

That burning barrel is fascinating... seems so out of place to someone who's not used to it! I like the shot.

I have another shot of a burning barrel, same street a block or two up from this one that i'll try and post tonight. These guys are outside all day in freezing temps selling their produce. usually from 6-7am until they sell it all around 3pm. that's a long time to be out in the cold, everyday.

Health and Safety police? That makes me want to laugh then cry. Mostly cry.

Whatever happened to common sense?

Take the warning labels off of everything, let the problem solve itself.
