This thread is a great idea. I really like the diagram PSD file and like the idea of sharing setups as well as seeing the images they produced.:-)

OK here is my attempt at this.
Very simple lighting setup with 1 750 watt Calumet travelite pointing into a bounce umbrella and 2 reflectors. One of the reflectors is being held by the subject to light his face under the ball cap.

Brian...That is a great shot....lighting under a cap like that has to be a pain. I need to get me some reflectors.

Is this a great thread or what? Thanks Blonde for starting it.

Oh brother, that third light really makes a big difference when you want to seperate the subject from the background. I'm probably going to have to be dip my hand back in my pocket again!

Best leave it for a little while at least. My better half has been very understanding at the £1000 I have spent thus far and I'm not about to push my luck.

Let's keep the thread going :) I was testing the new BG and wanted to see how close I could put my daughter to the muslin. The setup was single AB400 in a large softbox left, reflector panel right.

Love the pics Lotto. I built my amvona softbox and have the reflector also but cannot seem to get these results.

Is the image of your setup pretty close to the exact location of your lights? Including the angle of the reflector?

Yes, they are close and just out of the frame at both side.

My turn:

I use this simple setup week in week out at Irish Dancing competitions.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to light just under the skirt to remove shadow on top of the leg.

Here's another. Wilt deserves credit for explaining how to use the black background.

I'm not a lighting expert but I'm pretty sure 2 sets of shadows is a big no no. I recommend using one of the lights (key) at 1/2 power and the other at 1/8th power (fill). This will eliminate the second set of shadows and look much more natural. You can use a 3rd light down low as an effect light to light her legs.

My .02,

Karl
