I have owned my XT for just over 2 years now and last week i hit a snag with it. I was shooting and all the sudden the camera started to not want to work basically. I can click the shutter and it wont prefocus. I had to hold it down, and it will freeze kinda, and if i press any other button the shutter will go off, give me a quick code 99, then the blue light will just light up and it just shows the battery. I have even tested new batteries in it and it does the same thing. I cannot review through pictures i have taken or anything. I am not sure what is wrong here but i have read that this can be a processor error.

If anyone knows more could you please educate me? Thank you.

Blue light? I don't think that I've ever seen a blue light on my XT.

The first thing to do is try removing both batteries and letting the camera sit for a minute, then reinstalling the batteries and try it. This will completely reset the processors in the camera, and fixes many of these quirky problems. (You'll need to reset the date and time.)

Other than that the main sources of trouble are the lens and CF card (and their electrical contacts).

i have done that battery removal, didnt change anything sadly.

i was wondering about the cf card, and tried it with my other 4 cards, no change.

i even tried the eraser on the contacts after cleaning them, no luck.

im just wondering what this blue light is. i cannot seem to find the info anywhere online.

Where is this blue light? I don't remember any blue light on my XT.

Is it in the viewfinder? If so, where in the viewfinder? On one of the LCDs? If so, which LCD and where on the LCD? On the body somewhere? If so, where?

Because it also lights up when images are being copied to a computer via the USB connection (at least it does on my Xti). Surely more than 0.6% of people copy files to the comnputer that way ;)

Interesting, I've just tested both my Xti's and the blue light most definitely comes on when I switch the camera on whilst connected to the computer via the USB lead. It goes out when the file transfer actually starts via the EOS facility but comes back on again at the end of the transfer. In fact, before I downloaded Canon's latest EOS software, the original EOS software that came with the camera gave me the option to either press the blue button to download the files or click on the download icon on the screen.

There is no print button on an XT, hence no blue light.

Has to be an XTi...

What'ya know. I always thought that was just the illumination button.

I never noticed (or paid attention) to the icon under it. I do know I've never seen a blue light flashing though.

Guess I'm no help at all.
