please can someone post some example shots taken with wide angle adaptor lenses on G3 or G5.

I want to see some good results or justification for me to buy. Or please post some comments if you use them.

Thanks
Andrew

Adapters & Conversion site

Hi,
The following site is generally recommended for some examples of what is available. Although it focuses on G1 & G2 in its application of the adapters and conversion lenses, it pretty much applicable to G3 & G5 as well. Select the Conversion lenses option to view photo samples.

Good luck :)

Hi Andrew, I have a wide converter for my G3.

These images were taken in the UK in Dorset and the ship in Portsmouth.

I have a G3. I also have a tele converter. I am pleased with them both.

HTH

Autumn

Andrew

Andrew,

Be aware that it is a fisheye lens with visible distortion. It might not be the effect you are looking for.

The price seems to be quite high for an 'Opteka' lens that is not exactly renowned for top quality.

Take a look at the link posted by IanC.

Best regards,
Andy

Watch for barrel distortion

Compared to (cheaper) SLR glass the barrel distortion is quite considerable. Luckily you cab fix this with imaging software (I use Paint Shop Pro 8).

I have not purchased any wide angle lenses as yet. I'd actually like to see some interiors done with any of these lenses if anyone has some pictures to show?? Plus I'm still thinking about Powershot Pro1...hmm...

If you're interested in the Olympus WCON-08, then take a look at these samples. I posted 100% crops (use the 'larger' button below the pictures) with and without the converter so the quality can be judged.
http://www.photo.net …b/folder?folder_id=408441 (external link)

The lens is a bit more expensive ($100 - 150) and only a 0.8x converter, but on the other hand it has very good quality and very little distortion.

With some lenses, the performance in the corners gets pretty bad. This might be ok for pictures that are resized for the web, but pretty bad for prints.

Best regards,
Andy

We just leave the wide angle lens on our G5. Only on the rare occasion do we remove it, perhaps for a flash fill shot or other such. We have been very happy with the quality and think our prints look good.
