need help picking a new gitzo tripod.

okay so im looking at buying a good support system for my 300 2.8 and (far) future 500 F4. So far ive decided on getting a RRS BH-55 ballhead and sidekick but im not sure which tripod to get. i was fairly familiar with the old models but now they changed all the numbers and im confused. idealy i would like it to fit in my new 1610 pelican case the interior is just over 21" so it might be tough, and if it just wont work ill carry something bigger.

with that said, i don't think that you will find a good tripod that would fit inside that 1610 of yours.
