How does this setup look to you? Is it too dark?

It looks pretty good to me makes me feel like its early in the morning with a slight overcast with no one around in the middle of the woods.

It is alittle dark but it does give it a really cool look. Maybe try to lighten it too just to see what you think but this still looks good.

Image looks "muddy." Some blacks, lots of grays, no whites.

Histogram shows the same. If you adjust the white point to the beginning of the data the snow suddenly jumps out at you.

You can contribute to the "dreary" feel by moving the gamma slightly to the right (looked good at .85 on my monitor).

Depends what you are looking or trying for. I personally like the shot for what it is, dark with a bit of mystery in the trees.

The snow is gray. The edit looks much improved.

Agreed.

As for setup. I feel like it's lacking a focal point.

Thanks for the comments. I have to quit going so dark on my black and white photos. I agree the edited photo looks good. Thanks for all the input.
