Folks,

I would like to get a P&S to complement my DSLR. The criterias are, Good image quality and small enough for pocket. G9 and S5 are not exactly what I'm looking for, due to the size....Which other model should I consider?

Take a look at some of their IXUS models. Decent point and shoot cameras in a nice little package, but not suitable if you were craving control.

Otherwise, take a look at some A series models, like the A720IS or A650IS.

If you want to be able to directly control aperture and shutter speed, the only other options are the A-series from A570 on up. If you want wide angle (28 mm equiv.) the only options are the SD800 and SD870. The biggest photographic differences among the rest are the megapixel count and presence/absence of IS.

I'd say SD850 (2.5" screen and 32mm wide) or SD870 (3" screen and 28mm wide). Other than that, no need for more megs but might as well get IS.

SX100? Not sure of the size, but it looks similar to the A-series size but offers 10x zoom + IS. $260-$300ish.

It's thick. If the OP wouldn't go for a G9, I highly doubt a SX100 would fit the bill.

Thanks folks,

I have also consider the SX100, but the size is not ideal. Can anyone put up some picture of SD870IS? Especially in low light or night shoots.

My girlfriend just got the SD1000. It's very nice. Impressive little camera. ISO 800 looks pretty good. Takes surprisingly good indoor shots without flash.

I love my Powershot A640 as well. Also have a 1.7x tele converter for it. Will add a wide angle soon enough
