Very bright light. The kids even put black tape under their eyes! This shot doesn't have three of the four things that I look for - no puck, not much face, only a single player - but I still like it. Comments always welcome.

I've noticed that I'm losing a lot of detail in the blacks but don't know if it is my monitor or post-processing.

I like the shot. It's clear. It's well lit. And its right in the action moment.
What did you shoot with if you don't mind me asking ?

WOW not what I was expecting to see when I clicked on this thread. Usually you'll see a scrum of players fondling the puck. Very excellent capture. Please post more!

Thanks for the kind comments. I shot this with my new 1d MK III and my 70-200f/2.8 (non-IS). What a great camera.

I'm just going through the pics from the weekend now. Here's another that jumped out. Again - not much face but I like it and it does have a puck ;)

I like the shot as well. The timing of the follow through is all you need on that shot. The puck and the face are not needed. Good stuff.

Thanks. I'm trying to decide if I want to use Zenfolio of something else. Once I settle on a hosting service I'll post more. I'm traveling to Douglas, WY this weekend with the Midget team. It is literally a barn at the State Fairgrounds ;) I hope it's not too dusty.

I REALLY like the first photo, except I would try to PS that ambulance out of the picture.

Thanks. I have CS2 but very little skill. I noticed the ambulance too (the EMTs are hockey players so they like to hang out at the rink ;) ).

Dan - these are pretty neat. The light source makes them .

Is it an outdoor rink? Light looks like light could be coming from the side like a low sun.

Especially 1/6400 , f4 iso 400! If not outside, what kind of tan do you get from the lights in that arena? :)

:) Outdoor rink and the sun is pretty low in the sky this time of year. We start to lose our ice in late February when the sun creeps higher in the sky. When we have cloud cover it is like hockey-photography heaven. Bright sun makes for some very strong shadows and I'm reading up on Photoshop now ;)

Some of the kids went to Walmart and bought black strips to put under their eyes.

The 'follow through' shot as attached here is nothing compared to the original. I'm looking at it now and I just can't believe the look that I'm getting with the 1D. It's a lot of money but - wow!
