so i was browsing FM looking for a nice deal (like i always do when i am bored) and came across an ad for a 1DmkIIn with 400k clicks on it!!!! now i know that these cameras are built to take abuse and last a long time but 400k clicks is just impressive!!!

so, do you know of a camera that went for more than 400k?

You never know, the shutter could have been replaced already? Or are they saying that that particular shutter has 400K clicks on it?

no, the guy is saying that the camera has 400K clicks on it which is why he is selling it for cheap.

He says 400K on the shutter! $1900.00 seems pricey to me with 400K on the hsutter or just the body...imo. It seems a good testament, though!

Yeah, that is pretty pricey, being that the shutter can die any minute

guys, i am not even talking about the price (i agree that it is expensive),i just find it amazing that the camera did that kind of shutter clicks and we have people asking if 20k on a 1D is too much...

Shutters are $250-$500 and a month of downtime. Price the body accordingly.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

I didn't want to reply on the B&S forum with this, but someone on FM replied with this:

Wow, 400k on the shutter? Really? Thats impressive! Its like a VW bug!

Well... not sure where that guy lives - but up here I have seen plenty of VW bugs and buses on the side of the road with flames coming out of their engine compartments :-D

Not sure if that is the best vehicle to link the shutter to... but then again, I am not a car guy, so maybe they last forever - but I am serious about seeing a lot of them on fire...

With the title of the thread, I expected it to half way be about Lightrules's issue.

That's a lot of clicks. Only the D series can give you an actual estimate though right?

I had a 10d shutter die after about 7k. There is no set time frame on how long some of them can last. My CPS rep has joked about a few cameras going well past 750k, and some dying at 2500. It's luck of the draw really.

$1900 is high for a camera with 400k shots on it though. It's not only the shutter that starts to get worn down at that point. Shutter alone is about $350 to replace.
