When I'm shooting indoors with any of my lenses on auto focus, I push the shutter down halfway to auto focus...it focuses but when I'm looking through the viewfinder it's still very blurry. When I go outside there seems to be no problem. I just got my 17-40 L today and inside it looks awful but outside it looks decent but not NEARLY as crisp as my 70-200 L. Thoughts on the focusing problem and the lens?

I bet you hit the 'dioptric adjustment' wheel on your viewfinder. It's that little wheel on the upper-right hand side of the viewfinder. Look through the viewfinder, and turn that wheel until the focus points are crisp, and your problem will be solved.

Easy fix! I heard Lightrules did the same thing before.

There should be a way to lock that thing. I'm always bumping mine when I get it out of my bag or something and it bugs the hell out of me having to figure out why my camera isn't focusing right.

My diopter is perfectly snug on my 30d, doesn't move at all unless i specifically try and fit a nail and move it. :/
