If Apple could improve the speed and let the app recognise Canon RAW files, I might consider using it again as an image catalogue.

This is how I use iPhoto currently when I shoot RAW files. How long has it been since you used iPhoto? The new version is much faster.

When shooting in RAW I make a smaller JPG that I put into iPhoto. I do my categories there. If I decide I'm going to do a print I go back to the RAW file and process it for printing.

Mark,

I've not used iPhoto since April when I bought the 10D. I was using the latest version of iPhoto but found that it repeatedly locks up on my G4 1Gig Powerbook just rotating an image.

Annoying thing is, iPhoto opens up whenever I connect the 10D to the computer even though all the photos are RAW.

Well, I can't speak to the rotation issue in iPhoto. I have a DP 1GHz PM, and it works fine for me. But in general using C1 to make the iPhoto images I don't have to rotate. Enough of that though.

Let's solve the iPhoto opening issue. Go to your Applications folder and open Image Capture. Then Image Capture -> Preferences -> Camera. Then select "No Application" for the "When a camera..." option.

Mark,

Thanks for the tip, I'd been trying to resolve that for ages.
