HOLD OFF a little longer!!!!!!

Well, what about this thing: Mamiya ZD and digital back (external link) - it has a 48 x 36 mm (yes, that's right, TWICE the size of the 1Ds Mark II) sensor with 22 megapixels.

So who is going to buy 1D Mark II now !!

I guess I need to sell my 1D Mark II now.

People who want to spend £3000 instead of £5000 on a camera ;)

£5000?
I don't think you have read the price right

4fps vs. 8fps

This is off the topic of price, but I read somewhere that the IDs Mk2 normally shoots 4fps and that it can shoot 8fps at half the resolution. Has anyone else heard this? If this is the case, why would anyone buy the 1D Mk2?

This actually sounds more like the latest Nikon.. 12 MP and double speed at 6MP...

Seems like 4p/s is fastest per spec sheet

Unless I'm misunderstanding this taken straight from Canon USA website

Continuous Shooting Speed

Approx. 4 fps (at 1/250 sec. or faster for all recording quality settings)

I read as it's best rate is approximately 4 fps. It would be awesome if what you say is correct and it can do 8 at 8 for example. I suspect that's not the case however. Either way, can't wait to get my hands on mine. I look multiple times a day to see when we can order one

Pre-Order available on one website for the 1DS Mark II

http://www.imagingspectrum.com (external link)

They are allowing pre-orders for $7999, just stumbled accross this today. Not sure how long it's been there.

I'm awaiting BHPhoto as I've ordered most of my stuff through them. That's a bit too much money to spend without having purchased from them before, especially for a pre-order. Anybody purchased from them before?

Jim

Am I the only one wondering how long a 1mb card of RAW files is going to take to transfer over Wi-Fi (to the nearest day or so)

802.11G is like 54MB Not including overhead, so I used a DS3 as a comparrison 45mb.

Jim

...so what would one expect to pay for a 1d MK II from b&H with all taxes for the UK?
The best I've seen within the EU is 4000 EUROS ( £2800 )
